About our honey
What makes Miel D'or honey different
What is raw honey and how is it different from regular honey?
Raw honey is unpasteurized and unfiltered, meaning it keeps all its natural enzymes, pollen, and nutrients. Unlike commercial supermarket honey, it's never heat-treated or overly processed, just as the bees made it. If you want the full breakdown, read our guide on raw honey vs processed honey.
Is your honey pasteurized or heated during processing?
No. Our honey is never heated or pasteurized. It's hand-harvested in Mascouche, Quebec and cold-extracted, so it keeps all of its natural enzymes, antioxidants and floral character.
Where does your honey come from?
Every drop is harvested by hand at our family apiary in the untouched forests of Mascouche and Cap-Saint-Jacques in Quebec, using sustainable, bee-friendly practices. It's collected and jarred locally in Laval.
What does your raw honey taste like?
Because it's wild-harvested and unblended, the flavour follows the season and the forest, floral and delicate early in the year, deeper and richer later. Every batch is a little different, which is part of the charm of real raw honey.

Ordering and picking up in Laval
How do I buy your raw honey?

Using & storing
Keeping and enjoying your honey
How do I store raw honey?
Keep your jar sealed at room temperature, away from heat and sunlight. No refrigeration needed. Stored properly, raw honey keeps for years and never truly spoils. See our full guide on storing raw honey.
Does raw honey crystallize? Is it still good?
Yes, and crystallization is a sign of purity, not spoilage. Enjoy it crystallized and spreadable, or gently warm the jar in warm water (not the microwave, which destroys the enzymes) to return it to liquid.
When is the best time to take raw honey?
It depends on your goal: morning on an empty stomach for energy and digestion, or about 30 minutes before bed to support sleep. A teaspoon to a tablespoon a day suits most people. More in our post on when to take raw honey.
What's the difference between liquid and crystallized honey?
They're the exact same raw honey. Liquid is smooth and pourable; crystallized has naturally set into a soft, spreadable texture over time. Choose whichever you prefer, or warm a crystallized jar back to liquid anytime.
Health & safety
Honey, health and your family
Can I use raw honey for a sore throat or for skincare?
Yes. Raw honey is a time-tested remedy for sore throats and is used in natural skincare thanks to its antibacterial and soothing properties. Take it straight for a throat, or use it in a simple face mask. See soothing a sore throat with honey.
Is your honey safe for children?
Raw honey is safe and loved by children over 1 year old. It should never be given to babies under 12 months due to the risk of infant botulism.
Is raw honey suitable if I'm watching my sugar?
Raw honey is still a natural sugar, so enjoy it in moderation. That said, it has a gentler glycemic impact than refined white sugar and brings antioxidants and enzymes with it. If you have diabetes, check with your doctor before using it therapeutically.
