From a small Bulgarian village to the forests of Quebec.
Miel D'or is a family raw-honey business, built on three decades of beekeeping, a love of nature, and an honest jar of honey.
Where it began
Ten hives, a village, and a curiosity for nature.
The roots of Miel D'or trace back to a peaceful village in Bulgaria in the early 1990s. That's where Todor Donchev, our master beekeeper, began his journey with just ten beehives and a deep curiosity for the natural world. It wasn't long before the golden honey he produced started attracting neighbours from all around, not just for the taste, but for the care and authenticity behind every jar. This was more than honey; it was a heartfelt connection to nature.
When Todor immigrated to Canada, he brought that passion with him. He established new hives in the pristine landscapes of Mascouche and Cap-Saint-Jacques, creating a haven for his bees in the rich floral biodiversity of Quebec's wild forests. His dedication to raw, unfiltered honey only grew stronger.
A family affair
Built on purpose and passion, together.
As the hives flourished, so did the dream. Todor soon teamed up with his son and daughter-in-law to form a family-run company grounded in quality and transparency. His son took the lead in sales, while his daughter-in-law brought her marketing expertise to help share their story with the world.
Together, they founded Miel D'or, a raw honey brand that remains proudly family-operated to this day. Every decision, from the way we care for our bees to the way we package our jars, reflects our shared values: authenticity, sustainability, and love for nature.
What we stand for
Honey the way nature intended.
Our honey is unpasteurized, unfiltered, and hand-harvested from hives in protected, pesticide-free zones. We never add preservatives, sugar, or antibiotics, so what you get is pure, nutrient-rich honey, just as nature intended.
Sustainability
We favour hive practices that respect the ecosystem and the health of our colonies, harvesting only from protected, pesticide-free zones.
